BIO:
At the dawn of the 2000s, more and more people were starting to gain access to the internet. All the Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock they wanted was at their disposal and it only took a whole day to download it. Amidst an era of iconic anti-establishment Nu Metal and an unmatched anger from the youth, rose Combat Zone Wrestling. The one-of-one reputation that ECW spent the late 90s building? CZW took to the next level, and although they had lower crowd sizes, they doubled the violence and were the first to define what it meant to be an American indy wrestling company in the 2000s. To the fans, the wrestlers were gods whose in-ring, gory gospel could only be seen via being there at the CZW Arena in person, buying a DVD or VHS tape off the CZW website, or through death-defying stunts captured through 10 pixel videos on pro wrestling message boards. To non-fans, they were urban legends, who solely existed through word-of-mouth retellings of death-defying, unimaginable stunts. In a crowd of many angsty, young men, 'Sick' Nick Mondo stood out and he defined what it meant to be a Combat Zone Wrestler. He was CZW in the early 2000s and seemed to be an infinite video clip farm for CZW during the time period, helping them grow their brand and become the top independent company in America off of the back of his blood and scars. He was the iconic underdog that the fans would die for, he was THEIR GUY, and one that they were proud to represent everywhere they went. But, when you put your body through that level of punishment, there are consequences. The 'Sick' painted across Mondo's forehead faded, his comically of-it's-time eyeliner faded, and the man was beaten and worn down. At the age of 23, after a 5 year career, Nick Mondo retired. A short career so iconic that he is still revered as one of the top deathmatch wrestlers in America, and when you see any half-viral deathmatch clip, there is a 50/50 chance it's one from Nick Mondo. You know how it goes with wrestlers though, retirement rarely ever means retirement. After years and years, Mondo caught the wrestling bug once again, and with the ECW revival announced, what better time to come back to claim a spot on the extreme mountain that he never got to climb. The ultraviolent legend will step into the playground of the extreme.
