Matt Sydal is an American professional wrestler known for his high-flying, dynamic in-ring style that blends technical wrestling, martial arts, and lucha libre influences. Best known for his time in WWE as Evan Bourne, Sydal has also made notable contributions to promotions like New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

As a child he trained in Taekwondo, gymnastics and was on his high school amateur wrestling team Sydal's passion for the sport grew from his time as a backyard wrestler in the late 1990s. Throughout his career, he’s been recognized for his innovative moves, including the Shooting Star Press, Meteora, and Question Mark Kick. He has a reputation for his versatility, incorporating a variety of strikes such as the spinning heel kick, roundhouse kicks, and knife-edge chops.

He is known for being the first wrestler in St. Louis Missouri to be licensed pro as a wrestler under 18, he made his pro debut on October 20th 2000 at 17. Sydal’s early influences came from legends like Jushin "Thunder" Liger, Rob Van Dam, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, Sabu and Ultimo Dragon, shaping his unique style. His wrestling journey was supported by a close-knit group of colleagues who were generation of early 2000's indy wrestling. including his long-time rival and mentor, Delirious.
